The compressed air is directed into a chamber where it is forced to follow a curved path or spin rapidly. This causes the heavier oil droplets to be thrown outwards due to centrifugal force, while the lighter air continues towards the center. The separated oil collects on the walls of the separator and drains down to an oil reservoir. In a typical oil-lubricated compressor setup, the separated oil is collected and then returned to the compressor through a re-circulation system, ensuring continuous lubrication of the moving parts. By effectively separating oil from the air, it contributes to cleaner emissions, which is beneficial for the environment and may help comply with regulatory standards.
