The air oil separator LB11102-2, also known as an oil vapor separator, is a device used in the engine's crankcase ventilation system. Its purpose is to separate the mixture of oil and air produced by the combustion process inside the engine. During the engine's operation, gases and oil vapors are generated within the crankcase. These vapors then pass through the air oil separator. The air oil separator LB11102-2 uses centrifugal force created by the rotation of the engine to separate the oil droplets from the air. Heavier oil particles are flung to the outer walls of the separator and returned to the crankcase.
The separated air is then either directed back into the intake system for combustion or released into the atmosphere through a vent, while the oil is returned to the oil pan for reuse. By separating and returning oil to the crankcase, overall oil consumption is reduced, extending the life of the oil and reducing the need for frequent oil changes.
